About AeroPress

The AeroPress Coffee Maker is made by Aerobie Inc from Palo Alto in California, USA. Alan Adler, at the time a Stanford University engineering lecture and inventor, started the company back in 1984 to manufacture his Superdisc flying disc and hold the patents to his many inventions. (As a side note, his Pro flying ring set a Guinness World Record for the farthest throw when it was thrown 406 metres in 2003).

In 2003 Alan started his quest for the perfect manual coffee making machine. He spent several years learning about coffee, the brewing process and what made a great coffee and, after 30 prototypes, the AeroPress was released in November 2005.

Initial scepticism about a strange looking coffee maker made by a sports toy company was soon replaced by glowing reviews as people realised what a great coffee this weird machine made. Today serious coffee drinkers swear by their AeroPress machines. There are even AeroPress Championships held annually in countries all over the globe and World AeroPress Championships are held each year.

The AeroPress is made in the US of BPA free polycarbonate. It’s tough, portable, easy to use, simple to clean and super cheap. Best of all, it makes outstanding brews in under two minutes. Click here for more info.

At Cape Coffee we love a good coffee, naturally. We also love the Wet Tropics of Far North Queensland.

Fortunately for us the tablelands that run parallel with the coast from south of Cairns up to Mt Malloy have some of the best coffee growing conditions in Australia and some wonderful, boutique coffee producers.

The AeroPress coffee maker and Bodybrew Bod cold brew coffee system are our coffee making tools of choice and go with us when we're in the rainforest, out on the Great Barrier Reef or visiting the coffee farms.

Watch out for some delicious North Queensland coffee beans in our shop in the near future.
